Performance Improvement Manager – Nursing Administration

- Education Requirement:
- Minimum: Graduate from an accredited Registered professional Nurse Program, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or related field Preferred: Masters in Nursing or related field.
- License/Certifications:
- License: Current NYS License to practice as Registered Nurse. Certifications Required: BLS certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation. Certifications Preferred: CPPS, CPHQ, CPHRM or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum: A minimum of 4 years experience as a Registered Nurse including at least one year working in a quality or patient safety role. Preferred: Previous management experience in an acute care setting and a strong background in regulatory compliance, performance improvement and or patient safety.
- Minimum: Strong knowledge of the principles of patient safety management. Knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills Strong presentation and delivery skills.
- Responsibilities:
- The Coordinator or Event Reporting & Nursing Quality works collaboratively with the VP of Nursing and nursing leadership on nursing quality improvement projects and other special projects. He/she also has Patient Safety Responsibilities, which include working collaboratively with the Director of Quality and Performance Improvement and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide support for the patient safety program in acute care. The Coordinator manages the event reporting system and process used in acute care and facilitates assigned RCAs/Debriefs and supports the collection, analysis and communication of patient safety in order to meet internal and external reporting requirements. This includes reporting to the NYS DOH and NYPORTS.
- Supports analysis of all adverse and patient safety events. – Collects facts and data pertaining to events and coordinates and facilitates root cause analysis, as assigned. Identifies trends that could impact patient safety within the acute care facilities. – Facilitates assigned RCAs/Debriefs. – Tracks completion of action items and outcomes associated with assigned root cause analysis/debrief activity. – Serves as the organizations NYPORTs reporter and ensures appropriate reporting in the New York State Patient Occurrence Reporting and Tracking System (NYPORTS).
