Lead Process Technician

Job description:

Our client is an injection molding manufacturer of automotive and consumer products located in North Carolina.

We are looking for a Lead Process Technician with mold setting experience.

The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on engagement on the production floor, training and coaching the molding technicians as well as mentoring the production team. 3-5 years prior injection molding manufacturing experience is required. A strong Production Supervisor with technical injection molding process experience will be considered.

Summary:

The Lead Process Technician will report to the Engineering Manager and will have 1-2 mold technicians directly reporting to him or her. You will be responsible for ensuring that all machines are running, and all processes are controlled and running to standard.

Tasks:

  • Lead machine start-ups (plan, schedule, basic maintenance)
  • First response to all machine, robot, thermolater and secondary equipment alarms.
  • Ensure machines and robots are running at optimum efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machine, mold and material problems.
  • Report any issues requiring special attention to Production Supervisor.
  • Accurate completion of documentation.
  • Responsible for all die change activities not done by a Die Setter.
  • Responsible for maintaining the appearance of all thermolaters, Robot Control Stations, DME units etc.
  • Ensure proper care of all equipment, especially the managing and proper disposal of all purges.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for following all CCP policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 3+ years Plastic Injection Molding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Master Molder Training Certification is a plus
  • Some leadership experience required.
  • Must be experienced in mold set-ups, trouble shooting, exposure to maintenance problems and be familiar with state-of-the-art controls on machines and robots.
  • Independent work style, motivated to coach and mentor team members.
  • Experience with automated work cells
  • Experience with Engel or Krauss- Maffei IM equipment is a plus.
  • Must be able to do basic HMI and PLC programming.
  • Some shift flexibility outside of Mo-Fr if necessary.
