Acoustic Scientist
Job description:
This role can be located in Groton, CT, Concord, MA or Arlington, VA. Full relocation provided.
We are looking for highly motivated scientist holding a PhD in acoustics, mechanical or electrical engineering and 3-15 years experience to join our Concord, MA or Groton CT team.
Successful candidates should demonstrate experience modeling and analysis of structural acoustic and underwater acoustic problems, including wave propagation in acoustic and elastic materials, scattering and radiation, signal processing and array processing.
Successful candidates should also have experience in modeling advanced/ engineered materials.
This role will provide opportunities to investigate and develop solutions for complex multi-physics problems in collaboration with a variety of subject matter experts to in support of emerging national security challenges.
Responsibilities will include developing numerical and analytic models of various structural acoustic phenomena, supporting test development and execution, post-processing of complex data sets to investigate observed phenomena, and the design and development of analysis tools for acoustic performance modeling.
We are a growing research and development company specializing in creating novel technological solutions based on fundamental physics and science, where ideas are rapidly taken from first principals to fieldable prototypes and matured through rigorous testing and evaluation.
You will work in a small company environment where technical excellence is rewarded and an entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged, and you will have the chance to work directly with colleagues and customers that value innovation and creativity.
Our laboratories and manufacturing facilities provide the flexibility to rapidly build and field prototypes to address immediate needs, as well as experiment with new concepts for future systems.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of acoustic propagation and scattering, signal and array processing.
Strong foundation in finite element analysis, solid mechanics, and applied mathematics.
Proficiency in MATLAB, some experience with Python would be advantageous
Experience with acoustic testing and data analysis.
Experience with control system design and analysis would be advantageous.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum: PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics
